Mencia
Mencía is a red grape variety primarily grown in north-western Spain, especially in Bierzo, Ribeira Sacra, and Valdeorras, as well as parts of northern Portugal (where it’s known as Jaen). It produces elegant, medium-bodied wines with bright acidity and aromas of red berries, cherry, and pomegranate, often with floral, herbal, and mineral notes. Many compare it to Pinot Noir or Cabernet Franc due to its freshness, perfume, and ability to reflect terroir.
