Tokaj Classic Winery, Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos 2016

Tokaj Classic is a beautiful winery in Hungarys Tokaj. Thanks to its unique climate and soil, Tokaj produces high-quality wines like the ones available at Tokaj Classic. The owners of this boutique winery cellist are Andras Bruhacs and two German fellow classical musicians. The winery is situated in the ancient town of Mod and there are eight hectares under vine in the Grand Cru Kiraly and Betsek areas, planted to Furmint, Harslevelu (Lindenleaf) and Muscat. For them, winemaking has become a passion and now they regard the treating and handling of the grapes and the production of the wine as comparable to teaching music to their students. With a nurturing and caring outlook they are able to create the first-rate grapes produced here and redundant growth is contained and brought into shape while the character of the wine is brought to light and emphasised. Attention is paid to the slightest detail and new interpretations are always sought. Just like with a musical duet, the partnership of the grape varietals is finely harmonised. Each vintage is its own composition, maintaining its individual character. As for Tokaji Aszu, the classic, its unmistakable composition is made using traditional winemaking methodology. The botrytis-affected, hand-picked grapes are added as puttonyos to the Furmint base wine. It is through an artful cuvee, that the King of Wines attains its concentrated taste embedded in high acidity and residual sugar.
