At the end of the 1950s, when first the Italian duo Chiosso-Buscaglione and later the French music icon Dalida Portofino sang about it, there was a real tourism run on the picturesque port city. Instead of going to Genoa, everyone suddenly wanted to go to Portofino. Stars like Sophia Loren, Brigitte Bardot and Frank Sinatra regularly fell for the charm of the place and enjoyed a glass or two of vino at the harbour. Then as now, the grapes for this grew on the lush slopes directly above the small village. And this is exactly where the Cantina Volpi has its Grenache vines, which give their grapes for the "Rosafino" rosé, with which you can get the Dolce Vita in its purest form directly into the glass.
