Paradou, Cotes de Provence Rose 2023

This classic blend is made from grapes that are sustainably farmed on rocky limestone and sandy clay soils. At harvest the grapes are picked by hand in the early morning, cooled at the cellar and pressed whole-cluster to extract the lightest color possible. The wine is then fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks before bottling. The Cinsault provides the delicate fruit reminiscent of raspberries and strawberries, the Grenache its color and spice, and Vermentino the freshness and acidity.

Le Paradou is a project created by brothers Alexandre and Frederic Chaudiere, whose family produces some of the most well respected wines in the Ventoux at Chateau Pesquie. Sourced from two sites with unique and raw materials, the wines carry the name of the Chaudiere;s centuries-old farmhouse, Le Paradou, which was built in the 12th and 13th centuries on the banks of the Auzon River. The vines, ranging from 40 to 60 years old, are cultivated in accordance with the laws of Terra Vitis, an organization that stresses the benefits of integrated farming in order to protect the environment. Currently in ownership of their family's famed Chateau Pesquie, Alexandre and Frederic decided to take on a new challenge with this range in 2005. Winemaking runs through Chaudiere veins, so it's no surprise that Le Paradou was born from a shared passion. Alexandre was always certain he would break into the winemaking business when he was young, and through his studies in Macon and work in various winemaking regions, he was able to gain substantial experience. Frederic, on the other hand, contributed a different perspective with his academic background in philosophy and social sciences. This dichotomy of interests is perhaps what aids the two brothers in their continued success.
