Again a top note of rose before cherries, plums and black olive. Light bodied yet possessing good fruit expression, the different varieties combining to good effect. Lovely freshness and fine tannins, the finish long and saline.

Predominantly 42 year old Grenache with a little Syrah and Cinsault co-fermented. Sourced from the high altitude Soldaart vineyard in Piekenierskloof north of the Swartland in the Olifants River region and shared with Eben Sadie. Using 70% whole cluster, fermentation was carried out in a closed tank with aerated pump overs. Malolactic fermentation occurred in old 500 litre French oak barrels before the wine was aged for 9 months in large French oak foudre before being bottled.
