A wonderful array aromas with spicy peppery black fruits and a subtle hint of olive. The palate has poise with a lovely mineral edge. A forward tannic structure yet there is a wonderful delicacy to the fruit and a silkiness to the texture. Long, savoury finish, with hints of black olive.

With minimal intervention in the winery, a judicious usage of new oak and only one racking prior to bottling without fining or filtration, the Sigauts are quietly making some of the most well-defined, thoroughbred wines in Chambolle.

45-year-old vines just below Clos St. Denis. The site gives very small, concentrated grapes. 30% new oak.

Although Anne and Hervé took over the 7-hectare property in 1990, it is only in very recent years that the domaine has undergone a total transformation. Lately, the wines have been amongst the finest in the village as a series of brilliant reviews has attested. They have always had wonderfully sited old vines, but they now work organically from flowering onwards and yields have been significantly reduced. They follow the lunar calendar and, in some of their vineyards, plough by horse.
