A pure, fresh Malbec from high altitude vineyards in Cafayate, full of flavours of black fruit and red fruits with some floral notes. The wine matures for 6 months in vats and a further 6 months in bottle. A supple silky and fruit driven style with a delicious freshness.

Cold maceration for 48 hours at 5C, and then fermentation with selected yeasts at a controlled-temperature between 24 and 26C, for 10 days. During this process, two daily remontages and one delestage took place in order to have an even colour and structure. Total maceration for 3 weeks with a period of malolactic fermentation.

Towards the end of the 19th century, Jose Fortunato Lavaque arrived in Buenos Aires from Lebanon and began running his own winery in Cafayate, the most prosperous town in the province of Salta at the time. A few years later, the Lavaques established Finca Quara on Finca El Recreo, a piece of land that had originally belonged to the Penalva Frias family during the 17th and 18th centuries. Inspired by their father’s example, the fifth family generation is making wines worthy of international acclaim. The Calchaqui Valleys constitute one of the highest terroirs in the world. The dry, sunny climate is responsible for the grapes impressive flavour. The broad temperature ranges in the area are also key to the production of high-quality wines. The vines receive minimum irrigation; just enough to ensure the grapes are concentrated and flavourful. The result is young yet well-defined wines that are perfect for any occasion.
