Originating in the Beaujolais region of France, Gamay is the primary grape used in Beaujolais wines, particularly Beaujolais Nouveau, a young, fruity red released each year just after harvest. Gamay wines are typically characterised by bright red fruit flavours like cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, often with floral notes like violet and hints of spice.
