A blend of full, rich and fruity wines from a single year specially chosen for ageing during four to six years in oak casks prior to bottling. Richness, depth of flavours and a powerful and attractive bouquet are its most  striking characteristics.

The wine has intense aromas of red and black fruits balanced by the freshness of notes of eucalyptus. On the palate, red fruits are wrapped in soft, ripe tannins. The long finish reveals complexity and softness, the signature of winemaker Alvaro van Zeller.
Served fresh is perfect to accompany creamy cheeses, chocolates and foie gras.

Although ready to drink, this great port will develop further in the bottle and might require some decanting.

Port Wine is a fortified wine that results from the interruption of the fermentation process by adding brandy, hence keeping the residual sugar of the grape. Port is produced exclusively in the Wine Region of the Douro, in the North of Portugal and it can be divided into three distinct categories: white, tawny and ruby, having recently emerged a new one - rosé.

Ruby Ports are young wines, fruity, with a deep red colour and intense flavour of red fruits, namely berries. Within Ruby Ports one finds the categories LBV (Late Bottle Vintage) and Vintage, upper-quality wines with unique characteristics. Vintages are wines produced with grapes harvested in a single year and bottled two years after the vintage. It ages in bottle where it can be kept for several decades. LBV is also a wine from a single harvest , but it is only bottled between four and six years after the harvest, and one can leave it to age in bottle or drink it while still young.

The grapes are carefully selected, harvested by hand and transported in boxes to the wine cellar. The fermentation occurred in granite basins (lagares) with temperature control. Before being bottled, the wine aged for 4 years in large old oak vats.

The Van Zeller family connection to the wine business dates back from the beginning of the 17th Century, as the biggest wine traders registered at that time.

The ancestors of the Van Zeller family are the first known members of an uninterrupted series of 14 consecutive generations devoted, to the present day, to Port and Douro wine trade.
