From the prestigious Shafer Vineyards, this wine is deep purple-hued and singing with  sweet aromas of jammy blackberries, spiced cherries, herbes de Provence, and dried flowers, it is a wonderfully textured, medium to full-bodied with sweet tannins and an indulgent finish. Drink now or keep it locked up somewhere cool for a few years.

Grapes are sourced from the Stags Leap District, Yountville, and a vineyard in the foothills of the Vaca Mountains just south of Stags Leap District. The growing season was great thanks to a lengthy, cool, steady summer season which created ideal conditions for the fruit to hang on the vine for a long time helping the grapes to develop bold colour and great concentration.

It goes through 20 months of aging in 60-gallon French oak barrels (100% new: Allier and Troncais)

In 1973, in the space of a few months, John Shafer went from riding morning commuter trains in Chicago to teaching himself to drive a TD-9 tractor in our Napa Valley vineyard. He’d never grown grapes or made wine in his life. That spirit of risk-taking and adventure still guides Shafer today and inspired the creation of this new and all of his wines.

We deliver throughout the United Kingdom with no minimum order requirement. For Mainland UK deliveries, the following charges apply:

  • £15 for orders below £75
  • £9.99 for orders below £125
  • Free delivery on orders over £125

We also offer the option to collect from any of our shops at no extra cost. All Mainland UK orders should be delivered within 1-3 working days. Great Christmas Wine

A truly outstanding wine for a special dinner. One bottle is delicious but having two in the house meant we could do it all over again the next night. Shafer one of the best if you like big smooth American red wine.
