The 11 hectares of vines dedicated to Croix Canon have their own history. On the western slope of the plateau to the bottom of the hillside, the vines are worked with the same standards and the same teams as at Château Canon.
Canon is a 1er grand cru classe, located in the appellation of St Emilion. The origins of Chateau Canon can be traced back to the early 18th century when Jean Bies planted vines around the church of Saint-Martin. Canon is planted on limestone based soils, situated south-west of the Saint Emilion limestone plateau with Chateau Magdelaine lying to the south and Chateau Clos-Fourtet to the north. It was acquired by Chanel in 1996 from Eric Fournier who had run the property since 1972. After the change of ownership and re-vamping of the cellars, Canon has successfully started to regain its former glories.
