Quinta do Poco do Lobo, Cabernet Sauvignon 1996

The grapes for this Cabernet Sauvignon were harvested in October. They were subsequently fermented in seven days in temperature-controlled vessels. The wines don't age in barrels, only in bottle in the winery's cellars.

Quinta do Poço do Lobo, acquired by Caves Sao Joao in the early 70s, used to be a rustic property with about 37 hectares located in Pocariça, Cantanhede in the Bairrada appellation of Western Portugal. However, to this day Poco do Lobo produces under its own label. The Quinta was fully replanted with selected and strictly parceled grape varieties. Other than the French varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, they also grow the typical Portuguese varieties Baga, Moreto, Arinto and Castelao. The combined companies have undertaken massive investment that has allowed equipping them with the most modern winemaking technologies in order to reach an even higher level of quality.
