As the name suggests, this lively red wine is based mainly on grapes found on Corsica - Sangiovese, Grenache and Sciaccarello, bolstered with a bit of Malbec. The result is a very pretty, floral wine whose intense flavours of red plums and herbs, underpinned by gently grippy tannins, hint at its Mediterranean heritage.

Production Notes Production Notes

Numerous batches of fruit where sourced from Gullyview, Vivian and Attunga Vineyards. The fruit was picked over various days through out vintage and in the winery was 100% destemmed. Whole berry ferments occurred using indigenous yeasts, they where plunged once or twice a day and generally lasted 2 weeks. Following this the fruit was pressed to tank where it settled off large lees for a few days and then was transferred to ceramic egg and old oak for 6 months of maturation. The wine was then blended to tank where it sat on fine lees for a further 3 months. Following this, a small sulphur addition was made and the wine was bottled without fining or filtration.

Producer Producer

Koerner Wine is a partnership between brothers Damon and Jonathan Koerner. All wines are produced from fruit grown in the Watervale area of the Clare Valley, with the majority coming from their familys vineyard, Gully View. The winemaking philosophy is very simple the wines are made in the vineyard. The date of picking is the most crucial part of the process. Once the grapes make their way to the winery, they are carefully nurtured and each batch treated individually. An understanding of the terroir enables them to produce wines using nothing but the grapes and a small amount of sulphur!
