According to Taras, the organically farmed vineyard for the Owl is set deep into loamy soils that mean he never needs to irrigate. He just lets the vineyard do its own thing each year and pick when he thinks it's good to go. 100% whole bunches too and hand plunging.

The late, great Taras Ochota, former owner/purveyor of cult wine label Ochota Barrels, Was an inspiration for pioneering winemakers in Australia and the rest of the World. Breaking trends and doing his own thing creating some unique and ground breaking wines.

His grungy, minimalist attitude towards his label has seen him gain huge cult status internationally as one of the most boundary pushing 'conceptual' winemakers in Australia. From his home in the beautiful Basket Range of the Adelaide Hills, Taras and his wife Amber crafted small batches of wine from surrounding vineyards in the Hills and special sites across McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley.

These are highly sought after and extremely limited wines which have a pulsating energy and drive to them. Definitely some of the country's most exciting wines.
