Sordo, Barolo Monviglero 2017
- Red
- Vegan
- 75cl
- ABV 14.5%
A quite beautiful colour, never too intense, but very stable over time. The bouquet is rich, spacious and quite lingering. It recalls fresh fruit, small fruit in particular, inner-mouth spiciness, mountain hay and autumn leaves. Excellent structure; tannins and acids very nicely in step. A wine worthy of the fame it has always enjoyed.

From 35-40 year old vines frown at altitudes of 280-320 metres. Once the grapes have been selected they are crushed and destemmed. Vinification with fermentation in stainless steel temperature controlled vats with long submerged-cap maceration for four to seven weeks. Natural malolactic fermentation at temperature 20 degrees. Storage in stainless steel for two to four months. The wine is then transferred to large Slavonian oak barrels for 24 months. Before bottling the wine spends a further six months in stainless steel for refinement.
Sordo was founded in 1912 by Giuseppe Sordo, the present owner’s grandfather, and is now under the guidance of its third generation, Giorgio Sordo, with his daughter Paola by his side. Situated in the district of Castiglione Falleto and overlooking the slopes of La Morra, Sordo is unique in that it bottles 8 Barolo Cru wines, the only producer able to do this in the entire region.
