Disguised as a village wine, the Molsheimer Riesling come from Erste Lagen (premier-cru sites). Certified Biodynamic and without the use of fertilizer or pesticides, the grapes are all planted on limestone resulting in wine with energy and cool minerality.
Hand harvested, the grapes undergoes spontaneous fermentation. Aged on fine lees in large 1200-litre wooden barrels.
Battenfeld-Spanier was set up by the ambitious Oliver Spanier in 1993 and is focussed on producing great dry wines from top Rheinhessen vineyards with minimal intervention. The vineyards are located in the south of Rheinhessen, centred around the villages of Hohen-Sulzen, Nieder-Florsheim and Molsheim.
