Made from Austria's indigenous variety, Blaufränkisch, the wine is aged on lees in large casks for 18 months. Showing black and blue fruits galore with some peppery freshness and minerality. Full bodied with a recognisable acidity and and good structure but still easy to drink. Perfect for Northern Rhône Syrah fans looking for something a bit unusual. Ideal with roast lamb and all kind of stewed meats.

The grapes were handpicked at the beginning of October. Destemmed and mashed into stainless steel tanks for fermentation. After pressing, malolactic and 18 months of ageing were done in big wooden casks of 20 hl.
In 2006, Markus took over the family winery in the Leithaberg in Burgenland.
The regional limestone Leithakalk soil produces high acid, mineral wines. The lack of nutrients in the soil force the vines to bury deeper into the ground, giving the wines their signature minerality.
Markus’ winemaking is very natural and solely focuses on grape varieties that best express this unique terroir – Blaufrankisch and Chardonnay, producing authentic, honest, structured and long living wines.
