Weiler Schlipf Spätburgunder, Weingut Claus Schneider, Baden, Germany, 2014

About this wine

The Weiler Schlipf estate is one of the furthest south in Germany - almost on the Swiss border. This area is know for its warm climate, ensuring the grapes achieve good ripeness. The estate's Spätburgunders (the German name for Pinot Noir) are made using mostly Burgundian techniques, leading to wines of good complexity and ageing potential.

"Top-drawer German pinot noir is a revelation and this unfiltered gem is tailor-made for Christmas. Its delicious, smoky, gamey, sandalwood and white pepper spices are perfect with lighter game." Jayne MacQuitty, 50 Best Red Wines for Winter, The Times, Saturday 21st Nov 2015
